So you recently saw Honey on DIRECTV and now you’re jonesing for more Alba, huh? That’s not uncommon – here are a few of her best hits that you’ll love if you like her style
Fantastic Four: Jessica makes a great superhero in this series but she’s got a great cast of supporting actors, too. If you like superhero action films, this one makes for a good Saturday afternoon watch.
Good Luck Chuck: She starred alongside Dane Cook in his first leading role – how about them apples? Good Luck Chuck isn’t Oscar worthy, by any means, but it’s a fun time to be had by all. Don’t watch it with your mom though, as it gets a little more raunchy than you might imagine.
Valentine’s Day: This was the ensemble cast to end all ensemble casts but it unfortunately burned pretty lackluster at the box office. Alba was great in it, as you would expect, and she made a delightfully quirky yet charming leading lady. She doesn’t lead the whole film but her part was very well done.

When it comes to superb dance and amazing choreographic skill, the movie Honey tops many in its genre. With names like Jessica Alba, Romeo, and Mekhi Phifer in the cast of this 2003 dance movie, you can’t go wrong! This movie has more than a lot of awesome dance scenes though; it also shows the power of individuality and always following your heart. As A.O. Scott from the New York Times reviewed: “Honey brings out the wholesome, affirmative side of the hip-hop aesthetic without being overly preachy…”

An amazing addition to the film is the soundtrack associated with it. Missy Elliot, Blaque, Mary J. Blige, Fabolous, and Wu Tang Clan have a spot on the album, along with many others, making it a great soundtrack to listen or dance to.

The star that shines in this film, Jessica Alba, gained a lot of popularity from the film. She was previously noticed for her cool and adventurous role as Max on Dark Angel. Since then, she has become popular as the Invisible Woman in both Fantastic Four movies, and is now working on a film titled Escape From Planet Earth. It is now in post-production and will be released in 2012.

When it comes to one of the worse movies of all time, nothing takes the honey like “Honey” staring Jessica Alba.
What were the people who made this film thinking?

“Honey” seemed to pop up at the same time dance movies in general were becoming popular. With that said, following the same trend as everyone else doesn’t always bode well for everyone. In this case, the dancing trend definitely didn’t help those behind “Honey.”

In addition to having a terrible plot and script, the acting in “Honey” isn’t anything to rave about either. While Jessica Alba has already been in a ton of movies in her young career, unfortunately she just doesn’t seem to have the acting chops to lead a movie on her own.

The lack of quality acting shouldn’t rest solely on Alba’s shoulders either. The entire cast in this movie delivers a less than par performance. Add this to Alba’s lack of talent, and “Honey” quickly turns to mush.

Although the movie “Honey” has a great premise, the fact it is lacking in all the other important areas of what makes a movie good is enough to make it one of the worse films of this decade.

My favorite scene from “Honey” is, hands down, the opening club scene where part time bartender, and part time dance teacher Honey really gets noticed on the dance floor. This isn’t your high flying superhero “Fantastic Four” Jessica Alba or your clumsy zoologist “Good Luck Chuck” Jessica Alba, this is hot and lithe hip-hop Jessica heating up the night club dance floor in her first real starring role. I’ve read Alba trained with professionals and practiced heavily for the dance scenes, and it shows in her first dance scene. She’s not as skilled as some of the back up video dancers in later scenes, but in this opening sequence you can see why she is the star. She holds her own in all the dance scenes, and every outfit she wears looks fantastic. Alba has great on screen chemistry with costars Lil’ Romeo and Mekhi Fifer, and she is convincing as the good but street wise girl who makes it big but won’t sell out and doesn’t forget her roots. Plus, with a beat filled and inventive soundtrack, great music video sequences and hip-hop music cameos from likes of Jadakiss, Genuine, Tweet and Missy Elliot, “Honey” is a hip-hop fan favorite.

The 2003 movie Honey seems to have gotten a mixed bag of reviews about its portrayal of young women, from empowering to degrading. Certain women’s groups claim the scantily clad Alba could have done more to promote the empowerment of women by refusing to dress so provocatively. While other groups have no issue with the costume design in the film because it stayed true to the theme of the movie: dance.

The plot of the film was meant to show women in a strong positive light. For example, when Honey is harassed by the music video director and she stands up to his advances and does not succumb just to get ahead in the business. She is also a positive role model for the New York youth she teaches dance to by showing them they can accomplish their dreams with hard work and staying out of trouble. In the end it finds Honey successful and she never gave in or buckled under her trials and tribulations by staying true to herself.

Those against the film say it overly sexualized women and put them in a demining position by having to show off their bodies in the entire film. They would have liked to see the strong woman lead, Honey, be able to play her role in the movie without the constant bra top. They feel it would have come across more genuine in the long run.

Those for the movie disagree, saying the outfits worn in the film were appropriate for the nature of the theme. Dancers wear this attire and many times even less during strenuous practice and rehearsal sessions. They see this as a great empowering movie that uplifts the position of women by showing no matter what your goals are, women do not have to get there by selling theirselves short.

Honey Daniels is a gifted dancer, who would eats, breathes, and lives for hip-hop in the 2003 movie “Honey”. She was portrayed by “The Fantastic Four” actress, Jessica Alba. Her slick new moves captivated the audience and left us wanting more. The dance style portrayed in the movie was fresh, and innovative. The movie inspired dancers and choreographers alike to get their crews together and break out into the industry.

Since “Honey” was released, there were many popular television shows and movies released in its wake. Movies such as “Step Up”, “Step Up 2″, and “Step Up 2 The Streets” which showcased hip-hop dancers followed suit. These movies basically followed the same storyline- struggling, aspiring hip-hop dancers trying to achieve fame and notoriety in the hip-hop dance world. Hip-Hop dance shows such as “America’s Best Dance Crew” were inspired by the energetic dance style showcased in the movie. On the show, dance crews would showcase their best moves and compete for a cash prize.

The movie “Honey” definitely changed the way hip-hop dancing was viewed. It allowed the viewers to see hip-hop dancing as an art and not just club dance moves. It showed that it takes hard work, dedication, strength, and courage above all else to make it in this industry.

Well, since Honey he actually starred in a TV mini-series where he played himself, before getting his own full series. “Romeo!” had him playing the lead for 8 episodes between 2004 and 2006. After the series was cancelled he starred in a series of small movies. Don’t Be Scared, Uncle P, The Pig People and Down and Distance were all flops at the box office. He had a guest spot on the hit show The Defenders and on The Cape. He also recently starred in Dancing with the Stars and Jumping the Broom as Sebastian in 2011. Romeo has now decided to be called Romeo Miller over his former one-word name.
